Chrome Protection
We all would love to rock our rims and chrome accessories all year round but reality of it is is that many of us live in a climate where part of the year is ruled by snow, and sadly snow means salt.
In order for you to be able to use your rims year round here are some helpful tips for you to rock those chrome pieces all year long:
First off When salt sits on your rims the salt creates tiny holes and then forces its way into them and expands known as pitting. This can severely damage your chrome and can make way for rust to set in.
What you can do:
There are several simple but easy maintainance things you can do to prevent salt damage to your rims and other chrome accessories on your vehicles.
First you can simply rinse off your car after every time you drive it. This way you wash off majority of the salt and it does not have time to set into your chrome.
There are also several different products you can apply to all of your chrome pieces and rims to protect and seal them off from the salt. You can simply apply wax, or chrome polish followed by synthetic wax, or a wheel sealant, or a teflon based wheel care product.
Reapply these products a couple times a month and you should be set.
Also another break through alternative is instead of chrome you could always purchase stainless steel rims and accessories or forged aluminum , they claim to never rust!!!
