The

Ferrari 360 Modena

was made from 1999 to 2005. It replaced the Ferrari F355. It is offered in both coupe and convertible form named "Spider". This is the first production Ferrari to be constructed entirely in aluminum, making the car much lighter and faster. It has a mid-engined mounted 3.6L DOHC 40 Valve V8 producing 400 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of Torque. The V-8 is located just behind the drivers seat and has a 8500 RPM redline. Weighing only 3064 lbs. tests have been as low as 3.9 seconds from 0-60 MPH and a top speed of around 190 MPH. To showcase the wonderful engine it can be seen from the outside through a clear glass cover.

Handling is said to be amazing partially because of the mid-mounted engine for even weight distributions along with electronic aids. The 360 comes in 2 transmission types: manual 6 speed stick shift or F1 style 6 speed paddle shift transmission. Both transmissions are great! And although some people prefer a stick shift, the F1 style transmission is the way of the future and can shift faster than any human can shift, with less risk of error. You can shift up or down on the F1 transmission with racing style levers located just behind the steering wheel.

Ferrari 360 Back

When the 360 Modena first was released there was a 3 year waiting list! Not to mention you'd be spending over $200,000 and $50,000 to $75,000 more for a convertible (Spyder), and another $10,000 or so for the F1 transmission. In 2006 prices have started to come down to about where they should be now that the Ferrari 430 has been released, also with a 2-3 year waiting list.
